I wore this dress earlier in the week. I wanted to wear something fun and cheerful so I popped on this little splash of purple and magenta flowers;
Happy Glady Dress- Laura Ashley 2010/2011
I’m not sure why the dress is called Happy Glady initially I thought it was because it had Gladioli flowers on it, but upon closer inspection I think they are lisianthus, dahlia and opium poppy flowers?
Then I got to wondering was Glady the lady and was she ‘happy’ because of the opium poppies? ….mmm…not sure
I love this dress because it’s one of the few purple garments I have and I love an excuse to wear my lilac rose headband, and it matches so well;
I also love to wear this dress for sentimental reasons too.
I wore it when I went to The Lindy Charm School– vintage workshop last year. The Charm School run by Miss Chrissy Keepence covers vintage hair (including basic pin curling), vintage make up application, clothing and deportment. It’s a nice way to have fun with like-minded vintage gals and brush up on techniques, or learn new skills.
My make-over partner was Natalie Craig from The Age and I was lucky enough to have my photo used for the article she did for the The Age’s Sunday ‘M’ magazine;
Hope the sneek peak of my Glady dress has made you feel a little bit Happy !!!
