There is a lovely shop in Melbourne called MAZI that is decorated like a 1950’s boudoir? There is an abundance of velvet and silks everywhere and the walls are covered in the most fabulous 1950’s watercolour framed prints and etched mirrors featuring ballerinas and swans.
Sadly, the owner will not part with them and so I always leave the shop with a sigh and feel kinda glum…..I would dearly love to take home my own little piece of Swan Lake .
When we went to see the Grace Kelly exhibition we stopped in a small town called Kyneton and I found a set of three ballerina prints in one of their thrift shops-yay!
I had to buy them, they were perfect for the wall in between our room and our ensuite. The frames are more on the shabby side of the Shabby Chic spectrum but they are just so romantic….how could I resist?
They fill the wall nicely- not too big, not too small.
I walk past these darlings many times a day and almost always hum a little waltz music in my head….la, la, la, la, la-la, la-la ….my own little piece of Swan Lake.
