I love vintage hats and everything to do with them; ribboning, handmade silk and velvets flowers, berries, rick rack…. the list goes on and on. I have found the remains of what was once a beautiful hat in the bottom of a basket, or on a bottom shelf of a vintage or thrift store. I grieve for the beauty that has been lost, when the frame is bent beyond repair or watermarks on the fabric.It is a shame to see such beautiful trimmings going to waste.
So, imagine how delighted I was when I found this beautiful headband made with vintage millinery flowers and ribbons. It is so nice to see these delicately detailed flowers from yesteryear’s hats being put to good use.
The photos don’t really do justice to the loveliness of the headband…sometime photos don’t capture the essence of a picture.
By contrast other quickly snapped photos can be some of the most pleasing.
The other night I was playing around with a new hairstyle to go back with one of my hats. It was getting late, so instead of putting it back in its box I left it on my dressing table and then deposited this headband on top…..the effect was charming.
The combination of lamplight , pretty objects and chance brought together this dainty still life;
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
