Those of you who stop by Princess Pin Curls regularly will know about my “sewing my way through winter” campaign…. my newest project is a dress made with a 1957 Vintage Vogue pattern V8789 (re-print).
I bought 5 metres of this fabric at the end of summer sale, over a year ago, and have been waiting for the right pattern to come along that seemed to suit it.
When I was checking out potential patterns I found this one. The dress on the right looked so lovely made up in that lemon floral fabric…I saw it as an omen… it was the pattern I had been holding out for.
I have never made a dress with such a gathered waist before.
I normally try to make ones with either box pleats or full circle skirts that are cut with a flat waist (and flair steadily out to the base of the skirt). I’m not sure if the overall effect will become my figure or help my figure look fuller?
Here is an early photos of how it is going;
The skirt is only pinned on at the moment…it looks like a massive hip enhancer…I hope that once it has been stitched on properly and pressed down with the iron it will sit a little flatter… and be a little more flattering!
