I find it hard to believe that we are in September already! Spring has well and truly sprung here in Melbourne and it so nice to just sit on my back deck soaking up the sunshine;
With all this sun-shiny weather comes a bevy of fun, vintagey things to see and do….I work every Sunday, which means that I need to plan my weekend activities with care so as to make the most of all the fun things on…I don’t want to miss any of the upcoming fun.
I’m sure you don’t want to either so I will give you guys a heads up of anything I see happening around the traps. The first little tidbit that I want to share is an exhibition featuring the Darnell Collection called Fashion meets Fiction.
It will be held in Upwey at the Burrinja Cultural Centre from November through mid February. If you book an early bird ticket (before 31st October) you gain entry for the bargain price of $12.
The Darnell Collection features vintage clothing and accessories dating back to the 1820’s through to the 1960’s and is curated by Charlotte Smith. This exhibition is slightly avant-garde as it is using clothes from the collection to embody fiction characters ranging from Scarlett O’Hara, Phryne Fisher and Carrie Bradshaw….I have never had the opportunity to see the Darnell collection before and can’t wait!
I am trying to organise myself (and my calendar of events) for the remaining few months of the year….I want to visit the upcoming Tulip festival, attend Oaks Day (Ladies Day)at the Races, two vintage fairs and several Sunday morning Camberwell Markets…and in between I need to squeeze in work, my daughter’s 13th Birthday party and prepare for the Christmas silly season!
I’ll share these, and all my other adventures with you guys.
