Last week we had a few days of unseasonably warm weather that felt like heaven.
We took advantage of all the sunshine and went for our first picnic of the season in Edinburgh Gardens, Fitzroy.
I wore my Toile dress that I made as part of my Sewing My Way Through Winter campaign. If you missed it you can see how I made it here.
I was so excited to finally have weather that was warm enough to wear it…it’s sad when you have dresses sitting in the wardrobe waiting for their debut moment!
I am really happy with the finished dress. The cut is super flattering and I think it really nips me in at the waist and it’s halterneck/sweet heart neckline, it seems to make me look narrower in the torso to boot …I think I will definitely have to make another one soon!
We packed a demi picnic (we didn’t crack out our proper picnic basket) as it was just my sister, the kids and I.
We improvised by using one of an old school cases and loaded it up with all the essentials for a Spring picnic.
I think every picnic, if possible, should include proper china and a floral tablecloth.
We dined on salad, turkey, cheese and dips.
Dessert took the form of strawberries and blueberries and we washed it all down with good old Lemon, Lime and Bitters.
…then had a bit of a relax under the trees.
If you’re not familiar with this little patch of paradise I highly recommend you check it out. It is nestled amongst the leafy streets of Fitzroy and Clifton Hill and its tree lined avenues and fields cover 24 hectares.
The park has one of those old-fashioned band rotundas…I would love to get photos in it one day.
Hope you had a lovely weekend!
