I have been dreaming of finding a 1940-50’s housecoat for many a day. I’ve been fussy…it had to have a feminine, ultra flattering cut, be made of soft floaty fabric and be a beautiful colour. This housecoat was to be the embodiment of old Hollywood glamour, style and relaxation-a tall order indeed.
I was lucky enough to find the 1950’s housecoat of my dreams back several weeks ago and my Mum offered to buy it for me for my birthday.
I feel in love with the ultra full sleeves and skirt, but the floral fabric is what really sold me. It feels so soft and floaty and it makes a superb swish sound when you walk.
It has the most beautiful wide lapels with pleated trim edging.
Even the pockets have yummy pleat details too.
I bought my dream housecoat from Lyn at French Vintage Chic (Tyabb Vintage Emporium) who also had these satin and feather slippers in exactly the right shade….how could I resist?
Does anyone else have a vintage housecoat?
