A few weeks ago I took my ‘New Look’ style late 1940’s coat on an outing into town.
Because I’m such a shorty many coats swallow me up and give me no shape…but this coat understands me…it has the most beautiful cut and detailing.
It nips in at the waist and fans out enough to accommodate a very full crinoline.
Old tags just look so much better than modern ones, don’t they!
I love the pocket shape- so elegant.
Also making its debut was my 1950’s taffeta dress. I bought it on etsy a few months back for the bargain sum of $42!
it has dainty bouquets of pink flowers scattered all over it.
I adore costume jewellery and am a bit of a bower bird-I just can’t resist anything sparkly. I particularly love 1940-50’s paste pieces such as these star shaped screw back earrings. I wear them quite a bit and have a pair that is identical in a slightly smaller size.
and one of my all time favourite brooches.
Both of which were very inexpensive, pieces like these can be picked up for $10-20 at vintage fairs.
As you can see by the photos we are experiencing some unseasonably warm and sunny days here….which is lovely.
