I was recently awarded the Liebster blog award by Taygan from the
Taygan is a fellow Melbourne blogger who is a bit of a demon on the sewing machine. In addition to her mad sewing skills she is cute as a button and reminds me very much of Snow White. Her blog is full of her of her sewing creations, vintage finds and outings with her rather spiffy looking chap. Definitely a worthy addition to your bloglovin’ roll.
FYI- The Leibster Award is for bloggers who have less than 200 official followers of their blog and is designed to spread the word about great (largely unknown) blogs. It involves tagging other bloggers and setting questions that are designed to share more of blogger personalities and encourage a wider readership. I feel very honoured to get these awards, so thanks Taygan.
I love seeing posts about this award on other blogs because it gives me a chance to discover new blogs and learn more about bloggers that I love.
Taygan posed the following questions (which I think are quite a good mix) so hear goes;
1. If you could be any kind of animal, what would you be?
That’s simple. A unicorn.
Because you should always be yourself.
Unless you can be a unicorn.
And then you should always be a unicorn.
2. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
I haven’t counted lately, but in the area of 50 pairs
3. Scary movie or Rom-Com?
Rom-Com. I love them all like the modern Notting Hill, You’ve Got Mail, Crush, Lost in Austen
4. Do you have a special talent?
I can reach one full ruler length past my toes (when sitting on the ground with my legs fully extended)
5. Are you a collector of anything?
Lots and lots of things but my latest addiction is Maracsite jewellery…and I now have located a reliable dealer who keeps me in adequate supply- at a very reasonable rate.
6. What do you think is your best feature (physical or otherwise)?
I’m not sure if it is my best feature or my downfall….but I am an extremely passionate person- in all my loves, all my hates and in regards to anything I feel is injust.
7. Why do you blog?
Very few of my real world friends are interested in vintage. It is so nice to talk about my passions, my triumphant bargain hunting and objects of desire with people who enthuse- they “ooh” and “ahh” rather than say “that’s nice” and look slightly bemused or befuddled.
8. Where is the farthest you have ever travelled?
I moved all over NSW growing up including Wagga Wagga, Sydney, the Hunter Valley and Canberra. I never really wanted to travel too much when I was younger- I was far more interested in settling down. So moving to Melbourne and visiting Tasmania is it, up until now.
9. What is your favourite outfit you have posted on your blog?
10. If money was no object, what would you do all day?
Wear vintage, drink tea, have impossibly perfect half moon nails and buy a house that was large enough and old enough to come with a House Elf.
11. Who is your favourite super hero?
Wonder Woman…come on, she has the ultimate bra and panty combo out there!
I am not going to officially tag anyone in return, because it can be a pain to do if you’re short of time but I would love to plug a couple of blogs.
This lady is a vintage fashion goddess. She make everything look glamorous from a simple daytime picnic outfit, to sweater sets, to evening gowns. She has THE most amazing 50’s earring collection and impecabble taste in accessories. I say it again, fashion goddess.
This Sydney dwelling red head has amazing vintage clothes and sews up a storm. I would very much like to know which op-shops this lady frequents as she finds amazing fabrics (including the cutest puppy fabric I’ve ever seen).I have only just discovered her and added her to my bloglovin’ roll….you will want to too!
Style in a stair well (she takes lots of her pickies in the stair well of her apartment). This German blogger shares outfit posts regularly. She has a wonderful collection of novelty brooches and the most to die for Princess coat…and those bags, she just keeps finding them. Keep your eyes peeled for the round, black one with fruit on it. You will SWA-OON!
The most fun, dramatic and original dresser that I ‘know’. Devotee of all vintage but especially 60-70’s. This lady rocks sky high heels and coloured tights like nobody’s business. Read her, you will love her. (She has a very wide readership, so may not technically count here, but I’m prepared to bend the rules)
Lillies & Remains–
Sara is another of those effortlessly stylish Oregan vintage bloggers that pick amazing things all the time. This gal’s blog (and instagram roll) is full of fur, novelty and atomic print dresses- you will be jealous.
Joanna is a collector of many beautiful, fine quality vintage pieces. She is a real collector with a discerning eye for quality and high end brand names. She has a wonderful collection of Lilli Ann suits and jackets and has some breathtaking posts that feature original ads for her exact outfits…it’s like the pickies have come to life.
I’m sure that some of you probably already read these blogs, but for others they are new discoveries. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do!
